Indian benchmark may ring opening bells in a positive mood today after a strong session on the previous day. Yesterday, markets closed in green with major gains. Sensex closed 246 points higher at 67,467. Nifty 50 ended at 20,070, up by 77 points.
On the global front, US markets closed in mixed sentiments reflecting on indecisive mood in the markets. Dow Jones closed 70 points lower. Nasdaq ended with a gain of 40 points. S&P 500 ended 5 points higher.
Asian equities are trading with substantial gains in Thursday’s early morning session. Chinese Shanghai Composite is trading 0.24% higher. Hong Kong’s Heng Seng is trading with a gain of 0.22%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading 1.06% higher. Taiwan index is up by 0.80%. South Korean Kospi index is trading higher by 0.88%.
Nifty Midcap 50 stocks closed 0.60% higher in their last session. Nifty Bank ended with about a 1% gain.
Coal India, Grasim, Tata Consumer, Bharti Airtel, and Titan were the biggest gainers in Thursday’s session. HDFC Life, Mahindra & Mahindra, Adani Ports, Larsen & Toubro, and Cipla fell the most.
The Indian Rupee fell 6 paise to 83.01 against the US dollar on Wednesday, driven down by a rise in crude oil costs and a strong US currency outside. Oil prices rose marginally on Thursday, after falling significantly the previous day, as investors refocused on constrained crude supply for the remainder of 2023.
