Indian benchmark indices may open today’s session with muted numbers as the festivities come to an end. On Monday, markets closed in a sluggish mood. Sensex ended 325 points lower at 64,934. Nifty 50 closed down by 82 points at 19,443.
On the global front, the US market closed with gains in their previous session. Dow Jones closed with a gain of 490 points. Nasdaq Composite ended 327 points higher. S&P 500 closed up by 84 points.
Asian markets are trading with upside in Wednesday’s early morning session. Chinese Shanghai Composite is trading 0.57% higher. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading with a gain of 2.87%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 closed 1.97% higher. Taiwan index is trading 1.12% higher. South Korean Kospi index is trading 2.08% higher.
On Monday, Coal India, Eicher Motors, Hindalco, Mahindra & Mahindra, and BPCL were the biggest gainers. SBI Life, Bajaj Finance, Grasim Industries, Infosys, and Nestle India emerged as the top laggards.
Nifty Midcap 50 and Nifty Bank indices closed under pressure.
On Monday, the rupee fell 5 paise to an all-time low of 83.33 versus the US dollar, mirroring a downward trend in local markets. Oil prices increased in early Asian trading on Wednesday as a result of Middle East tensions and a weaker dollar.
