Markets may open with muted numbers

Indian benchmark indices may start today’s session with flat numbers. Yesterday, markets closed on a sluggish note. Sensex ended at 63,874, down by 237 points. Nifty 50 closed at 19,079.60, down by 61 points.

On the global front, US markets closed their previous session with gains. Dow Jones closed 124 points higher. Nasdaq Composite ended with a gain of 62 points. S&P 500 closed 27 points higher.

Asian markets are trading with flat numbers in the early morning session today. Chinese Shanghai Composite is trading with a gain of 0.20%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading with a decline of 0.13%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 ended 2% higher. Taiwan index is trading with a gain of 0.18%. South Korean Kospi index is up by 0.99%.

Nifty Midcap 50 stocks closed 0.42% higher. Nifty Bank ended with a decline of 0.45%.

SBI Life, Titan, HDFC Life, Kotak Bank, and Asian Paints emerged as the top gainers on Monday. Sun Pharma, Mahindra & Mahindra, Eicher Motors, LTIMindtree, and ONGC ended on the losers chart.

The rupee remained range-bound on Tuesday, ending 2 paise higher at 83.24 against the US dollar.

Oil prices rose slightly in early Asian trade on Wednesday, ahead of significant global central bank meetings this week, including the Federal Reserve of the United States.
