Indian benchmark indices may start today’s session with positive numbers on the back of mixed sentiments in the market. Sensex closed 204 points higher at 66,174. Nifty 50 ended with a gain of 95 points at 19,889.70.
On the global front, US markets ended the previous session with marginal gains owing to conflicting remarks from the Federal Reserve Officials. Dow Jones closed 84 points higher. Nasdaq Composite index ended 41 points higher. S&P 500 closed with a gain of 4 points only.
Asian equities are trading in mixed sentiments today. Chinese Shanghai Composite is trading 0.31% lower. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading 1.53% lower. Japan’s Nikkei 225 closed 0.13% higher. Taiwan index is trading 0.42% higher.
Nifty Midcap 50 stocks closed 0.64% higher. Nifty Bank ended with a gain of 0.26%.
Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, Tata Motors, BPCL, and Coal India emerged as the biggest gainers. Cipla, Apollo Hospital, Hindustan Unilever, Sun Pharma, and ITC were the top laggards.
Oil prices climbed on Wednesday after a storm in the Black Sea area hampered Kazakhstan and Russia’s oil supplies. The rupee recovered from record lows on Tuesday, recovering 6 paise to close at 83.34 versus the US dollar on the back of improved equities market optimism and foreign capital inflows.
