Markets may see a negative start today

Indian benchmark indices may open on a negative foot today, as market indicators reflect. Yesterday, markets closed with substantial losses. Sensex closed 523 points lower at 64,049. Nifty 50 ended 160 points lower at 19,122.

Globally, US markets ended with a sharp decline amidst a broad sell-off on Wednesday. Dow Jones ended with a decline of 105 points. Nasdaq Composite closed 319 points lower at 12,821. S&P 500 closed lower by 61 points.

Asian peers are also trading under pressure tracking the weak global cues. Chinese Shanghai Composite is down by 0.28%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was trading 0.73% lower. Japan’s Nikkei 225 closed 2.13% lower. Taiwan index ended 1.48% lower. South Korean Kospi index is trading with a decline of 2%.

Nifty Midcap 50 stocks closed 0.66% lower in the previous session. Bank Nifty ended about 1% lower.
