Indian stock markets may witness gains in today’s trade after closing with subdued numbers in the last session. Nifty 50 closed at 19,570. Sensex closed at 65,847.
On the global front, US markets closed under pressure ahead of key economic data releases. Dow Jones closed 159 points lower. Nasdaq ended with a decline of 110 points. S&P 500 ended 19 points lower.
Asian peers closed in mixed sentiments owing to China’s inflation data. Chinese Shanghai Composite was trading 0.30% lower. Japan’s Nikkei 225 closed 0.42% lower. Hong Kong’s Heng Seng is trading up by 0.31%. Taiwan index is trading 0.11% lower. South Korean Kospi is trading 1.08% higher.
Nifty Midcap 50 stocks closed marginally higher. Bank Nifty closed 0.28% higher.
In yesterday’s trade, top gainers were SBI Life, Hero MotoCorp, Cipla, Tech Mahindra, and Wipro. Biggest losers on the nifty pack were Adani Enterprises, Hindalco, Mahindra & Mahindra, Divis Lab, and JSW Steel.
Oil prices slipped in today’s early morning trade on rising demand concerns from China. The Indian Rupee declined 16 paise and closed at its 8-month low of 82.91 against the US dollar.
