Indian benchmark indices may start today’s session with positive numbers. Yesterday, markets were closed due to the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony. On Saturday, markets ended the session in a cheery mood.
On the global front, US markets closed in a positive sentiment as well. Dow Jones closed 138 points higher. Nasdaq Composite index ended with a gain of 49 points. S&P 500 closed up by 11 points.
Asian equities are trading higher, tracking the rally in global peers. Chinese Shanghai Composite is trading 0.57% lower. Japan’s Nikkei 225 closed 1.02% higher. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index is trading 1.80% higher. South Korean Kospi index is up by 0.42%. Taiwan index is trading marginally higher.
Coal India, Adani Ports, Kotak Bank, Adani Enterprises, and ICICI Bank emerged as the biggest gainers on Saturday. Hindustan Unilever, TCS, Mahindra & Mahindra, IndusInd Bank, and HCL Tech were the top laggards.
On Friday, the rupee rose 6 paise to 83.07 versus the US dollar, reflecting strong purchasing in domestic equities markets and a weak US dollar outside.
Nifty Midcap 50 stocks closed marginally low in the special trading session on Saturday.
