Markets trade with gains amid volatility

Indian stock markets are trading with gains in the Thursday afternoon session in high volatility, owing to continuous foreign fund inflows. Investors are highly cautious due to weak global cues and the ongoing rally in benchmark indices.

On the sectoral front, Nifty FMCG and IT indices are trading with declines. Nifty Media index is trading with the most gains. All other sectoral indices are joining the rally. India’s VIX is ~2% higher.

At around 1.15 PM, BSE Sensex is trading 156 points higher at 65,602. NSE Nifty is trading at 19,448, up by 49 points.

Apollo Hospitals (+3.96%) is the top gainer on nifty index. Power Grid (+2.29%) and Mahindra & Mahindra (+2.27%) are trading 2% higher. BPCL (+1.99%) and NTPC (+1.60%) are also trading higher.

Eicher Motors (-2.29%) is trading as the biggest loser for yet another session. Maruti Suzuki (-1.43%), HDFC Life (-1.31%), Bajaj Finance (-1.23%), and IndusInd Bank (-0.90%) are trading nearly 1% lower.

A total of 32 stocks advanced, and 18 declined on the nifty index today.
