Maruti Suzuki India has announced that it has commenced work on two new solar power plants at its facilities in a drive to bolster its commitment to carbon neutrality.
The company said in its statement that it will commission the two solar power plants namely 1.85 MWp at R&D Centre, Rohtak, and 20 MWp at Manesar in FY 23-24 and FY 24-25, respectively.
Maruti further added that after commissioning the two projects, the company’s total capacity will reach 48.15 MWp.
Maruti Suzuki India has expressed its intention to actively boost the portion of eco-friendly power it procures from the Haryana State Electricity Board to meet its energy requirements.
According to Hisashi Takeuchi, the Managing Director & CEO of Maruti Suzuki India, “We have been progressively raising the proportion of electricity produced from renewable energy sources since the establishment of our initial solar power facility in 2014.”
Furthermore, Takeuchi emphasized that the recent unveiling of solar power initiatives in Rohtak and Manesar represents a significant stride in Maruti Suzuki India’s endeavors to advance in this direction.
Takeuchi estimates that renewable energy will meet more than 30% of the company’s power needs by 2024-25.
At around 9.53 AM, Maruti Suzuki India was trading 1.09% higher at Rs 9,686.40 apiece, against the previous close of Rs 9,582.10 on NSE.
