On Thursday, Maruti Suzuki India announced a five-year agreement with Kamarajar Port for the export of its passenger vehicles to international markets.
As per the terms of the agreement beginning in December 2022, the company will use Kamarajar Port for exports to Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, ASEAN, Oceania, and SAARC, according to a statement from Maruti Suzuki India.
The port will be used to export approximately 20,000 cars per year. Kamarajar Port also developed and commissioned a car-cum-general cargo berth for handling automobile units.
MSIL reported its highest-ever exports to more than 100 countries in 2021-22, totaling over 2.38 lakh units. The company will continue its exports from Mundra, Mumbai, and Pipavav ports.
The Grand Vitara, which is manufactured at Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s Bidadi plant in Karnataka as part of a partnership between Suzuki Motor Corporation and Toyota Motor Corporation, will be sent to the pre-delivery inspection centre at the Kamarajar Port before being shipped, stated the company in its statement.
