Maruti Suzuki India recorded a 3% y-o-y growth in total sales to 1,81,630 units in July, owing to strong demand for its utility vehicle lineup. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) said in its statement that the business had delivered a total of 1,75,916 units to its dealers in the same month previous year.
Total domestic passenger vehicle sales in July stood at 1,52,126 units, up from 1,42,850 units the previous corresponding, representing a 6% y-o-y increase.
The company said that sales of mini-segment cars slipped to 9,590 units in July 2023 as compared to 20,333 units in the previous corresponding month. Mini segment cars comprise of Alto and S-Presso.
Compact car sales, which include the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, and Swift, plummeted by 21% to 67,102 units, down from 84,818 units the previous year.
Utility vehicles, which include the Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Jimny, and XL6, registered sales of 62,049 units in July 2023, more than doubling the 23,272 units delivered in July 2022.
The auto company’s exports came in at 22,199 units in July month as compared to 20,311 units in July 2022.
At around 11.02 AM, Maruti Suzuki was trading 0.72% higher at Rs 9,646.60 per piece, against the previous close of Rs 9,716.75 on NSE.
