Maruti Suzuki India said on Monday that it received a show cause notice from the customs department for avoiding customs tax totaling Rs 16,27,085 by incorrectly claiming the BCD concession based on the end use of the imported products.
The automaker has stated that it would respond to the show cause notice before the adjudicating authority.
According to a regulatory filing, the business claimed that the customs department has alleged the company for evading customs duty amounting to Rs 16,27,085 by wrongful availment of BCD concession based on the end use of the imported goods.
MSIL purchases goods from overseas vendors. Maruti Suzuki India Limited (the Company) has claimed Basic Customs Duty (BCD) concessions on a few items under Sr. Nos. 448H, 485A, 490, 494A, 516C, and 581B of Notification No. 50/2017-Customs, according to the filing.
The auto major will file a response to the Show Cause Notice with the adjudicating authority. According to the filing, the show cause notice has no effect on the company’s financial, operational, or other activities.
