Maruti Suzuki India Limited, India’s largest automaker, today announced that its total production for November 2023 was 147,763 units, down 3.3% from 153,092 units in the same month last year.
The decline in production was primarily due to a shortage of electronic components, which has been impacting the automotive industry globally. The shortage has forced automakers to reduce production, and Maruti Suzuki has not been immune to this challenge.
Despite the overall decline in production, Maruti Suzuki’s production of passenger vehicles increased by 1.3% to 130,114 units in November 2023, from 128,240 units in the same month last year. This increase was driven by strong demand for the company’s new models, such as the Brezza and the Fronx.
Production of commercial vehicles, on the other hand, declined by 25.3% to 17,649 units in November 2023, from 23,637 units in the same month last year. This decline was primarily due to the shortage of electronic components.
