Meesho enlists celebrities to promote their five-day mega sale

The Softbank-backed company announced on Sunday that Meesho has enlisted the help of seven celebrities, including actor Ranveer Singh, actress Deepika Padukone, and cricketers Rohit Sharma and Sourav Ganguly, to promote its five-day annual festive sale, the Mega Blockbuster Sale, which will begin on September 23.

The company will aim to reach 350 million users in these regions for the first time by developing app versions in eight regional vernacular languages: Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, and Odia.

The celebrities have been enlisted to sway regional audiences.

In order to raise awareness of the company’s value propositions, Meesho has also teamed up with nine well-known celebrities from across the nation: Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Rohit Sharma, Rashmika Mandanna, Kapil Sharma, Trisha Krishnan, Karthi Sivakumar, Ram Charan, and Sourav Ganguly.

According to the unicorn e-commerce start-up, the number of registered sellers has increased by about three times, to 7.25 lakh, from the 2.5 lakh it had during the holiday season sale last year, and the number of products listed on the platform has increased by more than four times, to 65 million from 16 million in October.

Meesho reported that during the previous year’s five-day annual sale, about 60% of orders placed on the site were from tier four and higher locations.

The corporation asserts that from 50 million in August 2021 to 127 million in August 2022, its Monthly Active Users have climbed by a factor of 2.5.
