N Srinath to retire as CEO of Tata Trusts

31 Oct 2022 , 09:44 AM

N Srinath is retiring from the position of CEO of Tata Trusts. He has worked for the Tata Group for more than 36 years.

The Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and the Sir Ratan Tata Trust have appointed Mehli Mistry, a director of the Meherji Pallonji Group, as trustee.

In addition to the ongoing interventions in livelihoods, water and sanitation, education, cancer care, and health, the Tata Trusts have played a critical role in their focus on the pandemic during his tenure. This includes developing medical infrastructures such as hospital beds and oxygen capability.

“From Mr. Ratan Tata’s executive office to the CEO of the Tata Trusts, Srinath has served the Tata Group in different capacities. Along the way, he has accomplished several significant milestones. Since joining Tata Administrative Services in 1986, Srinath has worked in executive roles for many ICT-related Tata Companies. As CEO and MD of Tata Internet Services, Tata Communications Limited (formerly VSNL), and Tata Teleservices Limited, he has also held other positions “according to a Tata Trusts official release.

In February 2020, Srinath Narasimhan, a seasoned member of the Tata Group, was appointed as the Trust’s first chief executive, marking a change to a more formal leadership structure.

R. Venkataramanan’s resignation as managing trustee in 2019 led to the creation of the position of chief executive and the start of a search for a qualified applicant. Ratan Tata, the chairman of Tata Trusts, and a core group of employees oversaw operations during the search period.

He served as the chair of the group that oversaw the search, which took around 10 months. Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Ltd. and Tata Teleservices Ltd. both had Narasimhan as their managing director. Twenty trustees and a managing trustee previously served as the leadership of Tata Trusts, which owns 66% of Tata Sons.

The mothers of the late Cyrus Mistry and Mehli are sisters, but since the former became chairman of Tata Sons in 2012, the cousins’ relationship has deteriorated. Mehli Mistry, who is regarded as Ratan Tata’s confidante, is the owner of approximately a dozen businesses with interests spanning from logistics, tourism, and car dealership to paint distribution.
