Leading Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) start-up in India, VoltUp, unveiled breakthrough cell chemistry PowerCore 2.0 in its swappable batteries catering to a wide range of EV powertrains with the aim of accelerating the adoption of sustainable energy in daily transportation.
The battery is made to fit various types of vehicles, from heavy-duty e-LCVs to slow-moving e-2 Wheelers. In March 2023, ARAI approved PowerCore 2.0 in accordance with the updated AIS-156 standards, giving consumers a longer battery life cycle and improved safety.
The introduction of novel chemistry in swappable batteries is a breakthrough that will benefit all users, including last-mile connection agents, according to Siddharth Kabra, co-founder and CEO of VoltUp. Our updated battery packs provide better safety and temperature stability, as well as a longer lifespan. The battery was developed internally on a new platform, and this will increase interest among B2C customers who want more torque.
The majority of last-mile connectivity agents are concerned about persistent range anxiety. The new battery will improve the ride experience for the drivers with enhanced torque, while switching stations enables e-2wheelers and e-3wheelers to swap batteries with nearly no downtime.
The infrastructure changes will support current battery packs even while VoltUp switching stations are updated to provide a smooth transition to the new batteries.
A variety of OEM items are being tested with the PowerCore 2.0 in preparation for it to be made available as a complete car and energy solution. Customers will be able to select a vehicle and subscribe to the battery through the VoltUp platform based on their running requirements.
According to VoltUp, current battery packs will be serviced and maintained up until their end-of-life cycle. For these packs, VoltUp has a recycling procedure in place that complies with AIS 156’s standards for managing the battery lifespan.
