Indian benchmark indices fell for the fifth straight session on November 13, with the Nifty closing below 23,600.
The Sensex dropped 984.23 points, or 1.25%, to 77,690.95. The Nifty slipped 324.50 points, or 1.36%, to 23,559. Market breadth was weak, with 628 shares advancing, 3,180 shares declining, and 92 remaining unchanged.
Top Nifty losers were Hero MotoCorp, Hindalco, Tata Steel, M&M, and Eicher Motors. NTPC, Britannia Industries, HUL, and Tata Motors were among the few gainers.
All sectoral indices ended in negative territory. The auto, capital goods, metal, realty, PSU Bank, power, and media sectors fall around 2-3%.
The BSE Midcap index declined by 2.5%, while the Smallcap index was down 3%.
