Nifty IT steady amid volatile trade; L-;T twins, Wipro, TCS lift the performance

Nifty IT index was steady on Friday amid volatile markets. The sector gained momentum after couple of bearish days this week as investors gear up for the third quarter earnings of FY22 which will begin with IT giants TCS, Wipro and Infosys next week. 

L&T Technology Services (LTTS), Wipro, and Larsen & Turbo Infotech held the Index together today, while Tech Mahindra and TCS also added to the modest gains. Coforge shed over 2% to drag the most.

At around 1.10 pm, BSE Sensex was trading at 59,586.77 down 15.07 points or 0.03% and Nifty50 at 17,765.30 up 19.40 points or 0.11%.

Nifty IT was trading at 38,080.85 up 71.85 points or 0.19%, after touching a high of 38,394.80 and low of 38,003.15 during intraday trade.

LTTS advanced 1.3% at Rs5,817.80 per piece to uplift the performance. LTI was nearly 0.9% higher at Rs7,254.10 per piece to add to gains while heavyweight Wipro surged 0.8% at Rs711.40 per piece to lift the mood of the sector.

TCS was up 0.62% and Tech Mahindra gained 0.56% to boost the sector further.

Coforge shed 2.06% at Rs5,808.95 per piece to emerge the top loser. Infosys was also under pressure.
