NLC India has entered into an agreement with Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam for the supply of 300 MW solar power for the next 25 years. The company secured a solar project capacity of 510 MW in the CPSU Scheme Phase-II Tranche-III through competitive bidding by IREDA.
The ongoing 300 MW solar project is being executed at Barsingsar, Bikaner District of Rajasthan. Tata Power Solar Systems has been awarded the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for the project.
The Power Usage Agreement (PUA) was signed between NLC India Limited (NLCIL) and Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (RUVNL) on August 17 in Jaipur. The agreement ensures the supply of solar power to Rajasthan for the next 25 years, generating approximately 750 million units annually.
This project is anticipated to aid Rajasthan in achieving its Renewable Purchase Obligation targets and reducing carbon emissions by around 0.726 million tonnes each year. NLC India’s foray into the 300 MW solar project in Rajasthan marks an expansion of its renewable energy capacity beyond its current 1.40 GW capacity in Tamil Nadu.
The company presently holds a total renewable energy capacity of 1,421 MW and envisions reaching 6,031 MW by 2030 as per its corporate plan. The collaboration between NLC India and Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam exemplifies a significant stride towards greener energy practices and sustainability goals.
