NSE Imposes F&O Ban on Twelve Stocks, Citing Market Limit Exceedance

17 Oct 2023 , 10:42 AM

On October 17, 2023, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) imposed a trading ban on twelve stocks in the futures and options (F&O) segment due to exceeding 95% of the market-wide position limit (MWPL).

Notable stocks in the F&O ban list include Balrampur Chini Mills, BHEL, Delta Corp, GNFC, Hindustan Copper, Indiabulls Housing Finance, India Cements, L&T Finance Holdings, Manappuram Finance, MCX, PNB, SAIL, and Sun TV.

Despite the F&O ban, these stocks remain available for trading in the cash market. The NSE regularly updates and maintains this ban list based on derivatives contracts surpassing the specified MWPL, emphasizing that clients/members can only trade these securities to reduce existing positions, and opening new positions is prohibited during the ban period.
