Okinawa Autotech, a manufacturer of electric two-wheelers, announced on June 22 that it would invest Rs500 crore to build a new manufacturing facility at Karoli in Rajasthan. The factory, which will be fully operational starting in October 2023 and be spread out across 30 acres of land, would have a 10 lakh unit annual production capacity.
More than 5,000 individuals will work at the plant. In addition to the two manufacturing facilities in Alwar in Rajasthan, this will be the company’s third factory, it was said.
The factory will not only focus on producing cars; it will also feature a supplier park that will include motors, controllers, battery packs, and other electrical components designed to support the entire EV ecosystem.
According to the corporation, this factory will include a motor and controller plant, an internal automatic robotic battery manufacturing unit, robotic automation for the moulding of plastic body parts, and a cutting-edge paint shop to support the localization of the manufacturing process.
According to Okinawa, the new plant would be used to manufacture the full line of scooters and motorcycles under its present joint venture with Tacita, intended for both domestic and foreign markets.
