Two oil and gas discoveries have been made by Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) at its offshore exploration field in Mumbai, the company announced in a statement on Thursday.
These finds, which are around 100 km and 30 km from the landfall spots, respectively, have been given the names ‘Amrit’ and ‘Moonga’ by the business. Both of these discoveries were made in the company’s recently acquired blocks obtained through the new Open Acreage Licencing Policy (OALP).
The corporation withheld additional information regarding the discoveries since it is now conducting a thorough assessment. The finds have been reported to the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH).
Once the data from the present well has been evaluated, the company will decide whether it needs to drill more wells for exploration and appraisal.
Sushma Rawat, Director of Exploration at ONGC, stated to ET that the company ‘reaffirms its exploration commitment to unlocking the vast potential of India’s hydrocarbon resources along with reserves accretion, strengthening the nation’s energy security.’
