PepsiCo India Joins ONDC Initiative to Enhance Digital Commerce Network

29 Aug 2023 , 12:23 PM

PepsiCo India, a prominent player in the food and beverage industry, has announced its collaboration with the government-led Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) initiative. Through this partnership, PepsiCo aims to enhance the visibility of its products and expand its consumer outreach by leveraging ONDC’s affiliated seller applications.

The partnership aims to bring greater discoverability to PepsiCo’s product offerings and extend its customer reach by integrating with ONDC’s platform. This collaborative move will enable PepsiCo’s products to be more accessible to consumers through various ONDC-affiliated applications.

Ahmed ElSheikh, President of PepsiCo India, emphasized the company’s commitment to innovation in its go-to-market strategies. He stated that integrating with ONDC represents a crucial stride in this journey. By embracing the latest technology platform solutions, PepsiCo aims to enhance its speed to market and reinforce its dedication to improving consumer experiences.

T Koshy, MD & CEO of ONDC, expressed satisfaction in welcoming PepsiCo India to the initiative. He highlighted ONDC’s objective to foster transparency in the e-commerce ecosystem, providing equal opportunities for all stakeholders. With PepsiCo India joining ONDC, the company gains the ability to reach a broader customer base while offering an expanded range of choices to buyers within the network.

ONDC, an initiative initiated by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, aims to create a more equitable e-commerce landscape, enabling small retailers to grow their businesses and reduce the dominance of larger e-commerce entities. This initiative envisions establishing an open and interoperable network where buyers and sellers can transact without being confined to a single platform.

ONDC offers small retailers the opportunity to extend their services and products to buyers nationwide via an inclusive e-commerce system. This allows buyers to purchase products sold on various platforms from different retailers.

The consumer portfolio of PepsiCo India encompasses a variety of well-known brands, including Pepsi, 7UP, Mountain Dew, Slice, Tropicana, Mirinda, Lay’s, Kurkure, Uncle Chips, and Quaker Oats. As PepsiCo India embraces the ONDC initiative, it underscores its commitment to staying at the forefront of digital commerce trends and enhancing consumer engagement.

By partnering with ONDC, PepsiCo India aligns itself with a pivotal governmental initiative aimed at reshaping the digital commerce landscape, promoting fairness, and providing diverse choices to consumers nationwide.
