According to the sources, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd has planned a capital expenditure of 1.88 lakh crore by 2032.
By 2032, the corporation plans to invest Rs 1.16 lakh crore in inter-state transmission projects, Rs 37,000 crore in intra-state transmission projects, Rs 10,000 crore in cross-border commerce, and Rs 7,500 crore in foreign activities.
During that period, the state-owned transmission utility would also invest Rs 15,000 crore in smart metering infrastructure.
In the renewable energy arena, the business will add solar power projects, for which it has set aside a value of Rs 1,000 crore over the same time period. The company’s capital expenditure plan for the current fiscal year is Rs 8,800 crore, which may be increased to Rs 10,000 crore due to various contracts it has received.
The company spent Rs 4,246 crore on capital expenditures up until September. The business intends to begin data centre operations with a pilot project in Manesar and is also looking at similar centres in other places. This will be handled by PowerGrid Tele Services Ltd, a subsidiary of the firm. The capital investment allocated for this effort is Rs 1,000 crore till 2032, although this figure may climb if the Manesar project is successful, according to the sources.
