Reliance Industries, a major Indian conglomerate, to temporarily close three units at its Jamnagar plant in Gujarat for planned maintenance and inspections. The conglomerate, owned by billionaire Mukesh Ambani, operates the world’s largest refining complex with a combined capacity of about 1.4 million barrels per day.
The temporary shutdown includes a crude distillation unit, delayed coking, fluidized catalytic cracker, and a refinery off gas cracker, spanning four to seven weeks starting mid-September. The company assured that other units at the Jamnagar facility will continue normal operations during this maintenance period. Earlier reports in August had hinted at the planned maintenance, anticipating potential impact on crude imports and gasoline margins.
