Airspan Networks Holdings (Airspan) and Radisys Corporation (Radisys), a wholly owned subsidiary of Jio Platforms Limited (Jio), announced the debt-free, cash-free sale of Mimosa Networks, Inc. (Mimosa) to Radisys. The transaction has been finalized for a consideration of US$ 60 million.
Airspan acquired Mimosa in 2018 in order to target low-cost fixed wireless access network connections. Mimosa offers a wide range of point-to-point and point-to-multipoint products based on WiFi 5 and the newer WiFi 6E technologies, as well as related accessories such as twist-on antennas, PoE Injectors, and so on.
These solutions have applications in 5G and FTTX/FWA backhaul requirements. Mimosa’s biggest customer has been Jio.
Mathew Oommen, the President of Jio, expressed that their partnership with Airspan has led to revolutionary designs for fast and reliable connectivity for end-users and backhaul applications.
By acquiring Mimosa, Jio plans to strengthen its position as a leader in the production of telecom network products, providing cost-effective and swiftly deployable fixed and mobile broadband solutions that add value to consumers and businesses worldwide.
Mimosa’s 56-person product development, manufacturing, and sales teams will remain with the company following the acquisition by Radisys.
Airspan will continue to market Mimosa products to some of its customers following the acquisition and will maintain a reseller channel for specific joint 4G/5G and FWA projects.
