French automaker Renault said on Wednesday that its total sales in India over the previous 11 years have surpassed the 9 lakh unit mark. The business began selling its made-in-India cars in 2012; it presently offers the entry-level Kwid, the small SUV Kiger, and the multipurpose Triber.
‘Groupe Renault has a defined long-term strategy in mind for India, which is one of the top five strategic markets for the company. In a statement, Renault India Operations Country CEO & Managing Director Venkatram Mamillapalle told ET, ‘We have developed a strong product-offensive plan for India, with a heavy emphasis on localization in future range of products.’
He continued, ‘Renault plans to bring several new innovations in products and services to meet the evolving needs and preferences of customers.’ This shows the company’s long-term commitment to the Indian market.
According to Mamillapalle, Renault has built a strong foundation in India over the past few years.
‘Company’s commitment to the Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ vision is unwavering,’ he continued. ‘Renault aims to achieve 90% localization for its upcoming products.’
The Renault-Nissan alliance plant in Chennai, which has a capacity of 4.8 lakh units annually, is where Renault’s automobiles are made. Nearly 500 sales locations and 530 service locations make up Renault India’s nationwide network.
