Indian equity indices closed lower on October 11, 2024, with Nifty around 24,950. The market opened flat, trading within a range, primarily in negative territory due to selling in auto, banking, and realty sectors.
Sensex declined by 230.05 points (0.28%) to close at 81,381.36, while Nifty fell 34.20 points (0.14%) to end at 24,964.30. Throughout the week, both the BSE Sensex and Nifty posted marginal losses.
Top Nifty losers included M&M, TCS, ICICI Bank, Cipla, and Power Grid Corp, while gainers were Trent, Hindalco, HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra, and ONGC.
Sector-wise, auto, banking, power, and realty indices dropped by 0.5%, whereas IT, metal, oil & gas, pharma, and media sectors gained 0.5-1%. The BSE midcap and smallcap indices saw a rise of 0.4% each.
Over 200 stocks reached their 52-week highs on the BSE, including Usha Martin, JM Financial, Mankind Pharma, Ipca Labs, MCX India, Divis Labs, Just Dial, Page Industries, Gujarat Alkalies, Glenmark Pharma, CG Power, HCL Technologies, Dixon Technologies, Gujarat Fluorochemicals, Century Plyboard, Symphony, and Hitachi Energy.
