Sensex, Nifty Suffer Second Day of Losses; Nifty Slips Below 22,300

Indian benchmark indices closed lower for the second consecutive session on April 15, with the Nifty slipping below the 22,300 mark.

At the end of trading, the Sensex dropped by 845.12 points or 1.14% to 73,399.78, while the Nifty declined by 246.90 points or 1.10% to 22,272.50. Of the total stocks traded, 761 advanced, 2,636 declined, and 102 remained unchanged.

The top losers on the Nifty included Shriram Finance, Wipro, Bajaj Finance, ICICI Bank, and Bajaj Finserv. On the other hand, ONGC, Hindalco Industries, Maruti Suzuki, Nestle India, and Bharti Airtel were among the gainers.

With the exception of the oil & gas and metal sectors, all other sectoral indices closed in the red.

Both the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices fell by 1.5% each.
