Takkar to take over as Chairman of Vodafone Idea board from August 19th

Ravinder Takkar, the CEO of Vodafone Idea (Vi), will take over from Himanshu Kapania as the telco’s new chairman on August 19.

According to a statement released by Vi on Wednesday, “The board unanimously elected Ravinder Takkar, as chairman of the VIL board, effective August 19, 2022…it (also) approved the request of Himanshu Kapania, to stand down as non-executive chairman with effect from August 18.

The telecom business claimed that Takkar would use his extensive knowledge from over three decades to lead the business in his capacity as chairman.

However, Kapania will remain a non-executive director on Vi’s board.

Takkar would be replaced as the CEO of the telco by Vi’s chief financial officer, Akshaya Moondra, according to an announcement made last month. At that point, the loss-making telco, which has been battling to turn around its operations despite a severe cash crunch, had undergone three top-level changes in less than four years.
