According to a statement released by Tata Motors on Tuesday, the thermal incident involving one of the company's e-Nexon in Pune on Sunday was brought on by the replacement of the original headlamp at an unauthorized repair shop.
We believe that the left headlamps on this car were recently replaced in an unlicensed shop during recent repairs, the statement read. This resulted in brief and trapped heat over time.
The unauthorized workshop's fitting and repair procedures contained flaws, which led to an electrical problem in the headlamp area and the subsequent heat incident. According to the company, the damaged region is only focused in the repair zone.
To prevent any such incidents, Tata Motors has urged all customers to have their vehicles customized with on-spec parts, accessories, and spares at accredited company workshops. With new technology and contemporary electrical components in both ICE automobiles and EVs, the automotive market is continually changing and demands skilled craftsmanship, the report added.
This is the second time the top-selling model of an electric passenger vehicle has caught fire. An e-Nexon caught fire in June of last year. It was described as a one-off by the corporation.
