Tata Motors announced on Thursday that it intends to equip more than half of its total workforce with new-age auto tech capabilities within the next five years as part of its strategy to produce competent and future-ready workers focused on electric vehicles and other developing auto industry technology.
Through its upskilling program, the company has collaborated with organizations such as ARAI, Bosch, Mathworks, SAE, and Tata Technologies, among others, to provide professional certification programs in connected, electric, shared, and safe (CESS) to its employees.
The organization has carefully designed training courses to meet the developmental needs of all employees, from shopfloor technicians to line engineers and plant management, in order to teach relevant technical and functional skills, as well as managerial and leadership talents.
For specialized programs for its workforce, the company has collaborated with various institutes, including BITS Pilani, MIT-ADT University Pune, Institute of Technology Nirma University, Symbiosis International (Deemed Universities), Ganpat University, DY Patil International University, Oxford Polytechnic, ARKA Jain University, and Amity University.
Tata Motors employs around 25,000 people on the shop floor across its seven sites.
