Tata Steel and the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), a member of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on mining research, academic growth, and sustainable solutions.
According to a company press release, the MoU was signed on Tuesday by D B Sundara Ramam, vice president Raw Materials, Tata Steel, and Prof. R. Pradeep Kumar, director CBRI.
CBRI will provide scientific input to Tata Steel on slope stability analysis and control measures in mining areas, as well as affordable and sustainable green housing technologies for the rehabilitation and resettlement of mining families, under the terms of the agreement.
In regards to the progress made, Sundara Ramam expressed, ‘Our dedication to sustainable mining practices is exemplified by our partnership with CBRI. We are enthusiastic about collaborating with their knowledgeable team to pioneer fresh ideas and guarantee the welfare of the local communities in which we work. The Memorandum of Understanding sets the stage for inventive and empirical mining research.’
According to the release, the partnership will also include technical training and workshops on geotechnical understanding and other mining-related scientific areas.
