Tech Mahindra Appoints Atul Soneja as COO

IT services firm Tech Mahindra has appointed Atul Soneja as its Chief Operating Officer (COO) on August 7. Soneja, a former senior executive at CitiusTech and Infosys, joins the company after Mohit Joshi, another former Infosys president, was announced as the CEO and MD designate.

As CitiusTech’s COO, Soneja was responsible for managing overall delivery, service lines, and operations, bringing in over 28 years of technology executive experience.

He held leadership roles in Infosys and its subsidiaries, overseeing multi-billion service lines in financial services, retail, manufacturing, and heading the AI and automation platform business of Edgeverve.

CP Gurnani, MD & CEO of Tech Mahindra, welcomed Soneja, expressing confidence in his expertise to drive growth and deliver innovative solutions.

Gurnani is set to retire on December 19, and Mohit Joshi will take over as the new CEO, bringing leadership experience in BFSI and healthcare sectors.

Joshi praised Soneja’s appointment, highlighting his execution-focused approach and collaborative culture building. Soneja expressed excitement to join Tech Mahindra’s leadership team, aiming to leverage next-gen technologies for continued momentum.

Meanwhile, Tech Mahindra reported a challenging Q1FY24 performance with net profit declining by over 38% QoQ and revenue dropping by 4.1% QoQ. The company’s EBIT margins stood at 6.8%, falling by 440 bps QoQ.
