Three hook-up agreements have been signed between Indradhanush Gas Limited (IGGL) and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) to connect the latter’s natural gas fields with the North East Gas Grid (NEGG) for natural gas transportation.
According to a Thursday official announcement, ONGC’s Jorhat, Silchar, and Tripura Assets will deliver natural gas to consumers. A 1,656 km long natural gas pipeline being built by IGGL will link the eight north eastern states’ capital cities and demand centres.
According to IGGL Director Sanjay Kumar, who talked to ET, these hook-up agreements will make it easier to link ONGC’s natural gas fields to IGGL’s pipeline for natural gas evacuation.
According to him, the hook-up agreements with IGGL are a strategic step to improve the connectivity of ONGC fields with the North East Gas Grid, which will be advantageous to both firms.
Customers would be able to access domestic gas through it, and it will help the overall economy of the nation, he claimed.
The hydrocarbon potential of the northeastern region may be fully utilized by utilizing the NEGG infrastructure for the creation of a gas-based economy in line with the Center’s Hydrocarbon Vision 2030, according to Kumar.
In order to connect additional natural gas generating firms’ gas fields with NEGG, IGGL is also in contact with them.
The hook-up agreements will make it easier to withdraw 1,85,000 SCMD of natural gas through NEGG from ONGC’s Tripura asset, 82,500 SCMD from Silchar asset, and 72,500 SCMD from Jorhat asset.
According to the press release, the NEGG project being carried out by IGGL has made tangible progress to date of 75.52%.
