Union Bank appoints Laxman S. Uppar on Board; stock slips ~2%

In its regulatory filing, Union Bank of India informed that the Central Government has nominated Shri Laxman S. Uppar as the Part-time Non-Official Director on the Board of the Bank for a period of three years from the date of notification i.e., March 21, 2022, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

His tenure shall be for a period of three years i.e., from March 21, 2022, to March 20, 2025.

Shri Laxman S Uppar assumed the charge as Director of Union Bank of India on March 21, 2022.

Shri Uppar has completed his Bachelor’s in Engineering. He is a well-recognized Educationist, Philanthropist, and Founder of Karnataka Classic Education Private Ltd. He also started Spardha Spoorti Publishers & Printers Pvt. Ltd. in 2012, which publishes books and magazines for various competitive examinations.

Currently, he assumes the position of Chairman at Classic International Public School and also Classic Little Birds, Classic PU & Degree College, Dharwad.

Union Bank of India is currently trading at Rs39 down by Rs0.7 or 1.76% from its previous closing of Rs39.70 on the BSE.
