UpGrad's $210 million fund raising is one of the biggest of this year

UpGrad, an edtech unicorn supported by businessman and angel investor Ronnie Screwvala, who is also the company’s co-founder and chairman, raised one of the nation’s largest funding rounds of 2022 at a time when funding to India’s startup ecosystem, especially to edtech companies, has slowed down noticeably this year.

Compared to the $185 million it had raised in April of last year in a round led by Singapore’s Temasek Holdings at a valuation of $1.2 billion, UpGrad, which offers executive education programs, raised $210 million from a number of investors and saw its valuation climb to roughly $2.25 billion.
