According to information retrieved from NSE bulk deal data, Vanguard Group, which is one of the biggest investment firms in the world, purchased holdings in Deepak Fertilizers, Elgi Equipments, and Gujarat Heavy Chemicals on Friday.
6.89 lakh shares of Deepak Fertilizers were purchased by the FII for an average cost of Rs890.23 per share. The stock’s Friday NSE closing price was Rs887.70 a share, down more than 3%.
Elgi Equipments shares were purchased by Vanguard in two lots. Over 28 lakh shares were purchased in the first batch, while about 27 lakh shares were purchased in the second batch. The average cost of the transaction was Rs489.2 per share. The stock fell by over 7% on Friday, closing at Rs489.05 per share.
Additionally, Vanguard purchased shares of Gujarat Heavy Chemicals (GHCL) totalling around 11.88 lakh at an average cost of Rs671.12 each.
Vanguard had no ownership interests in any of the three entities, under the June shareholding pattern.
