According to a statement from the firm, Vedanta has submitted a field development plan for an onshore discovery in Gujarat that is anticipated to yield more than 2000 barrels of oil equivalent per day at first.
This gas and condensate discovery, known is ‘Jaya,’ was made by Vedanta in August 2021 in the Gujarati district of Bharuch on block CB-ONHP-2017/2. According to Vedanta, of the 144 blocks granted to different businesses under the open acreage licencing policy (OALP), this is the first field development plan submitted for any finding. 51 OALP blocks have exploration licences held by Vedanta.
For gas offtake from this field, the company has a commercial gas sales agreement in place. According to the firm, Jaya’s gas was evacuated using truck-mounted compressed natural gas (CNG) kits and transported to neighbouring CNG gas stations throughout the assessment phase.
“This is the first-of-its-kind facility where sales through a CNG cascade system is being done by an exploration & production operator from an exploration well,” it added. Because of this, the business was able to reduce gas flaring while doing the field evaluation.
At Rajasthan’s Barmer, Vedanta also manages the biggest onshore oil field in the nation.
