Placement season is set to begin at various Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) locations around the country as students compete for positions in some of India’s greatest corporations across a variety of industries.
Hrithik Talwar, an IIT Delhi research intern, took to X (formerly Twitter) to share how online delivery platform Zomato came to campus a few days before the start of the December placement season and offered a salary package of Rs 1.6 crore for the role of Algorithms Engineer, but withdrew later.
The user posted a screenshot of the message he received, which provided an update on the application withdrawal and encouraged students to withdraw their applications since Zomato had withdrawn the employment due to corporate restrictions.
The popular post received several retweets and comments from people. Some readers pondered if the firm had truly given such a high-paying position, while others assumed it was a Zomato marketing gig.
At around 12.14 PM, Zomato was trading 2.16% higher at Rs 115.70, against the previous close of Rs 113.25 on NSE.
