Zydus bags final USFDA approval for Bisoprolol Fumarate Tablets; stock adds ~1%

The United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) has given Zydus Lifesciences Limited (formerly Cadila Healthcare Limited) final approval to market Bisoprolol Fumarate Tablets USP 5 mg and 10 mg.

Bisoprolol Fumarate Tablets are used to treat hypertension. To lower blood pressure, they can be used alone or in combination with other high blood pressure medications. Viona Pharmaceuticals Inc. will distribute the drug, which will be manufactured at the group’s formulation manufacturing facility in SEZ, Ahmedabad, India.

According to IQVIA May 2022 data, Bisoprolol Fumarate Tablets had annual sales of USD 30 million in the United States.

Since the beginning of the filing process in FY 2003-04, the group has received 318 approvals and has filed over 420* ANDAs.

At around 10.11 AM, Zydus Lifesciences was trading at Rs345.25 up by Rs3.25 or 0.95% from its previous closing of Rs342 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs344 and has touched intraday high and low of Rs345.80 and Rs340.60 respectively.
