Asian markets trade mixed; Hang Seng index up over 0.75%

In Japan, the Nikkei 225 added 0.33% while the Topix index gained 0.79% and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index rose 0.75%.

Asian stock markets were mixed on Wednesday trade as investors continue to watch for developments on U.S. coronavirus stimulus talks.

In Japan, the Nikkei 225 added 0.33% while the Topix index gained 0.79% and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index rose 0.75%. South Korea’s Kospi advanced 0.26% and shares in Australia edged higher, with the S&P/ASX 200 up 0.17%, while the Shanghai Composite down 0.50% while the Shenzhen component slipped 1%.

Meanwhile, oil prices were lower with international benchmark Brent crude futures down about 0.6% to $42.91 per barrel and U.S. crude futures shed 0.5% to $41.49 per barrel.

Further, the dollar index that tracks the greenback against a basket of other currencies edged down 0.15% to 92.963.
