A students decision to join a business school hinges on a plethora of factors but most importantly, it is the salary bagged by passing out students which becomes the lynchpin in the entire decision making process.  The education landscape is marked by an avalanche of information on campus salaries which at best can be described as confusing and inaccurate. In order to solve the problem, Shiksha.com has brought out Alumni Employment Stats. This tool will help aspirants to know about the salary earned by the alumnus of a particular B-school both in terms of average salary earned and also their employment specialization. The data has been provided by Naukri.com, which is Indias leading portal for job seekers.

Talking about the tool, Maneesh Upadhyaya, Business Head, Shiksha.com said, The hyper competitiveness in todays education landscape has coerced colleges to bring out profusion of salary numbers like median salary, average salary etc. which perplexes students who are not familiar with the jargon. This tool simplifies the numbers maze by making students aware about the salary packages based on the parameter of experience. Through this tool we are hopeful that students are better equipped to decide on their future campus.

With a traffic share of 36.2% in the education category, Shiksha.com is a clear leader in the education space. In response to the need for greater transparency in salaries drawn by students, Shiksha.com came up with a tool that makes decision making easier for students by letting them compare colleges on a common metric. This feature is currently available for 408 management colleges and 933 full-time MBA courses offered in these colleges. The site plans to roll this feature out for other categories as well in near future. It is currently available on the desktop version and will be available on Shiksha mobile site too.

Commenting on the tie up Vivek Jain, Executive Vice President Naukri Product and Analytics said, Through Alumni Employment Stats we have analyzed Naukri.coms data to provide insights for students seeking admissions into business schools. Since MBA degree entails investment in terms of time and money, it is pertinent that students should have a tool/mechanism to know about the salary level earned by the former students of the institution. It is extensions of our efforts in helping students be fully aware before making their choice of institute and ultimately find a better job after they graduate.

To glean this information, over 3 lakh CVs were analyzed. The numbers derived using this tool are based on the job-seekers profile stored in naukri.com. For this exercise only those CVs which have been updated in the last 1 year have been considered. The salary information is the median of all salary available for that college. The top 25 percentile and the bottom 25 percentile information were omitted while calculating median salary as it is mostly outlier data.
