NASSCOM awarded LPU for "Best IT Innovation in Higher Education

The award was presented by NASSCOM’s President Som Mittal, after a rigorous evaluation of the shortlisted nominations.

National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) has recently, presented prestigious Innovation 2013 Award to Lovely Professional University under the category of "Best IT Innovation in Higher Education", in Mumbai. The award was presented by NASSCOM’s President  Som Mittal, after a rigorous evaluation of the shortlisted nominations. 

The award jury was comprised of  eminent personalities like  Chandrasekaran Natarajan, CEO & MD Tata Consultancy Services & Chairman NASSCOM ; Anil Jaggia, CIO HDFC Bank; Ms Aruna Rao, Executive Vice President & Group Chief Technology Officer Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited and Prof Pankaj Chandra, Director IIM Bangalore. 

The winners were chosen from the 18 shortlisted ones out of a total 404 applications that were received and recognized for their exemplary contribution to the IT-BPM industry.  LPU’s Additional Dean Rohit Dhand received the award, on behalf of the University.

On this occasion,  Som Mittal expressed: “The winners have presented a fresh perspective on how innovation can be integrated into the growth. The awards serve as a benchmark to capture the innovation journey of India across multinational organizations.”

In fact, great conglomerate of IT industries NASSCOM represents and sets policy for the Indian software industry. It provides a prestigious platform through its flagship NASSCOM Innovation Awards, where it recognizes institutions those have differentiated themselves by doing innovative work and adding value to the industry. In its 9th year this time, the Innovation Awards also acknowledged mammoth organizations like Infosys, Vigyanlabs Innovations Mysore and other, which pioneered leading practices, products and solutions. 

Last year, companies of great status Cisco Systems India Pvt Ltd, HCL Technologies Ltd, Ericsson India Global Services Pvt Ltd were honoured.

LPU is regularly pushing its ideology of having LPU as paperless University and has developed soft-wares to achieve the target.  University Management System (UMS) is a great effort in this context which sees almost all the activities on-line. Students can download and upload the homework, assignments, term papers etc. 

Even, parents can forward feedbacks/suggestions or lodge complaints online. In a way, UMS serves as an Electronic Bulletin Board also to inform about all the university activities, online attendance and result system. Moreover, University has high-tech computing resources and network all across the campus, supporting 50000+ computer terminals.  LPU also has probably one of the largest in campus wi-fi infrastructure in the world.
