Nifty FMCG holds steady led by Varun Beverages, Jubilant Foodworks; Heavyweight HUL, Emami major laggards

FMCG stocks held steady on Monday's second half trading session. However, the upside in the sector was at a slower pace against the benchmarks Sensex and Nifty record-high rally. Heavyweight Hindustan Unilever (HUL) was under huge selloff thereby limiting gains in Nifty FMCG index.

At around 2.42 pm, Nifty FMCG was trading at 33,970.30 up 42 points or 0.12%. The sector has touched an intraday high and low of 34,215.80 and 33,921.25 respectively.

On the index, Varun Beverages and Jubilant Foodworks were top gainers soaring by 4% and 3% respectively.

Tata Consumer and United Breweries surged by nearly 2% each. While Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Nestle India climbed over 1% each.

Stocks like Colgate, Mcdowell and ITC jumped over 0.5% each.

On the downside, Emami was in the lead tumbling 2% followed by heavyweight HUL down over 1%.

Dabur and Godrej Consumer also plunged over 1% each. While Marico and Britannia traded marginally lower.
