Coal India responds by calling the news item on halting supply to non-power customers 'not correct'

The Exchange had sought clarification from the company on news published on a website "Coal India temporarily halts supply to non-power customers: Report".

Coal India Ltd. has responded to clarification sought by Exchange with reference to news that appeared in https://www.livemint.com/ quoting "Coal India temporarily halts supply to non-power customers: Report"

“The news article published by them on October 14, 2021, was not correct,” Coal India said in a filing on Friday.

The company has responded to Reuters who published the article first and Livemint who quoted Reuters in the article.

“No such action was initiated by Coal India Ltd. as filed by your news agency.

In fact, in view of the low stock position of coal at the power houses and due to the spurt in economic activities, the coal supply was prioritised temporarily to the power sector,” company said in response to the news plublishers.

Coal India Ltd ended at Rs176.75 per piece down by Rs5.6 or 3.07% from its previous closing of Rs182.35 per piece on the BSE.
