Nifty IT Index rules over 1%; MindTree, Mphasis, Wipro, TCS among top gainers

Tech Mahindra drags the most. Infosys trades flat.

The Nifty IT index was over 1% higher on Monday, bucking the overall weak trend in the markets. MindTree surged over 4.5% while Mphasis and Oracle are also in the fast lane.

At 2:55 PM, the index was at 35,072.70 levels, up 0.78%, as against a 0.219% dip in the benchmark Nifty50 index.

MindTree surged over 4% at Rs3,919.50 per piece to drive performance of the sector. Mphasis also gained 2.4% at Rs2,998 per piece. Oracle rose 1.75% at Rs4,850.30 per piece. 

Tata Consultancy Services gained 1.2% at Rs3,838.20 per piece. TCS has been selected by Transport for London (TfL) to design, implement and operate a new smart mobility system that will reimagine the administration of taxi and private hire vehicles in London.

Coforge also rose nearly 1.2%.  Wipro was up also nearly 1%. IT-major, Wipro announced on Thursday the completion of its fourth year of operations in Bangladesh during which it has emerged as a leading player in the country with its technology leadership, delivery excellence, and proven global experience in supporting the transformation roadmaps of its key customers.

Larsen & Turbo Infotech and HCL Tech also were around 0.7% higher. 

Infosys
Limited was trading flat. The company and Microsoft have entered into a multi-year strategic engagement with Ausgrid. 

Tech Mahindra dragged the most at Rs1,428.00 per piece, down 0.4%.
