Nifty Metal inches up; Welspun Corp, Tata Steel lead gains

APL Apollo shed 2.75% to trade at Rs1,449.60 per piece. Nalco was nearly 1% lower.

The Nifty Metal stocks were trading marginally higher amid bullish markets on Wednesday. The index was over 0.1% higher with Welspun Corp leading the gains and followed by Tata Steel.  APL Apollo  Tubes continued to be under pressure while National Aluminium Company was also trading 1% lower.

Indices erased early losses to trade higher with IT stocks taking the lead in gains.At around 2.05 PM, BSE Sensex was trading at 52,874.64 up 104.91 points or 0.20% and Nifty50 at 15,851.50 up 39.15 points or 0.25%.

The Nifty Metal was trading at 5,302.80 up 7.20 points or 0.14%, after touching a high of 5,331.55 and low of 5,283.55 during intraday trade.
Welspun Corp rose 1.4% at Rs158.25 per piece to emerge the biggest gainer in the sector. Tata Steel was also trading 1% higher at Rs1,240.60 per piece. Vedanta gains 0.5% while Jinal Steel was 0.4% higher.

State-owned companies MOIL and NMDC erased intraday gains to trade nearly 0.4% higher each. JSW Steel, Hindalco, Hindustan Zinc, Ratnamani and Coal India were trading flat.

APL Apollo shed 2.75% to trade at Rs
1,449.60 per piece. Nalco was nearly 1% lower at Rs84.55 per piece. Adani Enterprises and SAIL were also trading lower.
