US govt funds decline $14.41 billion in latest week: ICI

Taxable government money market fund assets in the retail category decreased by $1.85 billion to $191.56 billion

Total US money market mutual fund assets decreased by $30.24 billion to $2.563 trillion for the week ended Wednesday, May 1, the Investment Company Institute (ICI) reported on Thursday.

Taxable government funds decreased by $14.41 billion, taxable non-government funds decreased by $13.67 billion, and tax-exempt funds decreased by $2.17 billion.

Retail: Assets of retail money market funds decreased by $7.91 billion to $890.15 billion. Taxable government money market fund assets in the retail category decreased by $1.85 billion to $191.56 billion, taxable non-government money market fund assets decreased by $3.83 billion to $512.16 billion, and tax-exempt fund assets decreased by $2.23 billion to $186.43 billion.

Institutional: Assets of institutional money market funds decreased by $22.33 billion to $1.673 trillion. Among institutional funds, taxable government money market fund assets decreased by $12.56 billion to $687.43 billion, taxable non-government money market fund assets decreased by $9.84 billion to $912.22 billion, and tax-exempt fund assets increased by $70 million to $73.14 billion.
