According to news reports, cargo volume at the nation’s main ports decreased 4.95 percent to 67.53 million tonnes in November from 71.05 million tonnes during the same month last year. The Indian Ports Association (IPA) noted in a statement that while cargo traffic at the other ten major facilities decreased year over year, JNPA and Deendayal ports registered significant increase.
The central government of India controls 12 significant ports. VO Chidambarnar Port, Visakhapatnam Port, Paradip Port, Chennai Port, Kamarajar Port (formerly Ennore), Mumbai Port, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), Mormugao Port, New Mangalore Port, Cochin Port, Chennai Port, Deendayal Port (formerly Kandla), and Kolkata Port are among them.
According to IPA, cargo traffic at the top container port, JNPA, increased by 12.34% in the month under review, while Deendayal Port had a 10.10% year-over-year increase in November.
According to the data, New Mangalore Port had a 19% year-over-year loss in cargo traffic, while Mormugao Port saw a 29.64 percent decrease in cargo traffic last month compared to the same period previous year.
According to IPA, November cargo traffic at other major ports, including as Chennai, Visakhapatnam, and Mumbai, decreased compared to the same month the previous year.
